We all know someone who, after attending a show you couldn’t make, insists: “You should have been there…it was awesome.” I find these people to be supremely annoying so please forgive me when I say: (Ahem) “ You should have been there…it was awesome.”
I’m talking, of course, about the performance last night of the Josh Williams Band at Temple Beth-El in Poughkeepsie, where an appreciative audience of local bluegrass lovers were treated to a performance of the highest caliber by a group of very talented, young musicians.
From the first song to the last, Josh and the boys maintained their enthusiastic, authentic and professional approach; delivering smoldering country ballads and foot-stomping bluegrass instrumentals with equal ease. Add to this Josh’s genuine rapport with his audience and note-perfect singing and you have all the ingredients needed for a top-notch performance.
I’m sure last night’s show will have strengthened the connection between the band and their existing fans and made new ones of those fortunate enough to be seeing them for the first time. If you didn’t catch them this time around, I’m sorry. I hope they’ll come see us again. But really… you should have been there…it was awesome!
