DECEMBER 22, 2023 TRIVIA QUESTION

Hard to believe but it’s been over 20 years since the debut of the Coen Brothers’ movie “O Brother, Where Art Thou” starring George Clooney, John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson in a re-enactment of “The Odyssey” (look it up). The movie provided a welcome and huge boost to bluegrass and old time music.

Dick Bowden

Dick Bowden, originally from Maine, has been a stalwart traditional bluegrass performer for 60 years. He has performed with a number of northeast regional bluegrass bands on banjo and guitar. He also performed on the Grand Ole Opry, on Dobro, with The Tennessee Mafia Jug Band. Currently Dick plays guitar and emcees for County Line Bluegrass out of New Paltz. He has written articles for bluegrass magazines and websites for many years, including a nearly 5 year run of HVBA's Bluegrass Trivia column. After retiring from a career in the paper industry, Dick moved to Big Indian in the Catskills, where he earns his room and board as a groom and groundskeeper.
