It’s hard to believe, but two years have passed since we last voted for the officers of our Board of Directors. We will be voting this November on the first Wednesday of the month.
We are now seeking nominations for the offices of President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Please send your nominations to the Hudson Valley Bluegrass Association.
The current officers are:
President: David Angell
Vice President: Peter Conklin
Secretary: Chris Scheu
Treasurer: Marc Berman
Election of Officers and length of terms:
Elections for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer shall be held at a general meeting in November every two years. Elected officers shall serve a term of two years beginning December 1 and ending November 30. There will be no election for at-large members of the board. The length of term at-large members serve is at their pleasure.
Candidates for elected positions must be paid members of the HVBA. Nominations and voting are open to all dues paying members in good standing. Any member of a dues paying “household” will be eligible to hold office, make a nomination and to vote.
Call for candidates and election procedures will be issued in August. Nominations are to be made by e-mail or in writing to a designated recipient outlined in the initial call for candidates. The last Day for Receiving candidates is September 30. A list of candidates and profiles will be published on the HVBA website and/or sent by e-mail to HVBA club members in October.
Paper ballots will be used for voting at the November meeting in the case of multiple candidates. Absentee ballots must be received by midnight (EST), the day of the November meeting. Absentee ballots (e-mail) must be received by the aforementioned recipient and will be tabulated with votes cast at the November general meeting. Absentee ballots received after the November meeting will not be counted.
A simple majority of the votes cast for each office will determine the winner. In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by a vote of those members present who are eligible to vote. In the case of a second tie, the candidates will serve as co-officers and share the duties of the office.
