This Friday night marks the final performance for the Hudson Valley Bluegrass Association’s Showcase Series until we resume in September. While we present two nationally recognized bluegrass bands each year, the HVBA created this series as a way to bring talented bands to the Mid-Hudson Valley. The setting is intimate and we work hard to bring the best talent to you each month.
Please join us this Friday in welcoming Stained Grass Window to Poughkeepsie.
Stained Grass Window is a five piece ensemble from central Pennsylvania. They’ve been performing in the northeast United States for the past twenty -two years appearing at a number of the region’s larger bluegrass festivals as well as numerous family-centered events large and small. They include on their resume` an engagement on a cruise ship in the Bahamas with Valerie Smith.
As they describe themselves, ‘we’ve worked hard to develop ourselves musically but what really matters is that those who make up our audiences feel that they just enjoyed enjoyed themselves during our performance.’
The members include banjo player Mark Doncheski, Bob Knorr on guitar, Rick Marcera playing the mandolin, Ken Shafranko resophonic guitar, and Doug Ward the bassist. All five are vocalists and depending on the song each will be featured as the lead singer with the others adding the harmonies.
