Thankful, Larry Stephenson’s fourth gospel release, is a joyful celebration of Christian faith and bluegrass. Easy to listen to, without many surprises, the CD is worthy of a listen due to the smooth vocals and interesting collection of songs. The twelve tracks span the gamut: some old time favorites, some older, more obscure tunes and even some originals.
“Set Another Place At The Table”
Impeccable vocals deliver the mostly upbeat songs with unbridled grace. Sometimes the style borders on the old time country side, as in “May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You”, but for the most part this is good old time bluegrass gospel. There’s no fancy picking or showmanship here – just a gracious and thankful sampling of fine musicianship inspired by solid faith. This is a fine selection for a sunny Sunday morning at the lake – add a nice cup of coffee and a blueberry muffin and you can’t go wrong.
