Last Sunday, September 22, the HVBA attended the 14th Annual Highlands Bluegrass Music and Crafts Festival in Sloatsburg, near the New Jersey border. The Festival has a fantastic local feel; the kind of event where everywhere you turn, you’ll run into a friend or neighbor. The enthusiastic audience this year enjoyed performances by three bands: HVBA member bands Blue Plate Special and Hudson Crossing, as well as the phenomenal Pennsylvania-based outfit Serene Green.Â
At the festival, HVBA volunteers posted up with information about our organization—the existence of which was news to many in the southern part of our region!—and hosted a lively jam for attendees who brought their mandolins, guitars, and banjos to pick along. As always, we were thrilled to have the chance to spread the word about our jams, concerts, and other work with new friends in the Hudson Valley. We look forward to supporting more community events and festivals like the Highlands Bluegrass Music and Crafts Festival later in 2024 and in 2025 too!Â
