The HVBA is committed to two things: bringing top-notch bluegrass talent to our members in the Hudson Valley, and supporting local bluegrass bands by providing venues for them to present their artistry. COVID-19 has all but silenced festivals from the smallest weekend get-togethers to the country’s biggest week-long events, and the HVBA’s usual bevy of shows was no different. With nearly a year gone by, unable to fulfill our mission of curating and supporting bluegrass music for the Hudson Valley, we’re beyond thrilled to announce that the music is BACK.
For the first time ever, the HVBA is proud to announce a Summer Concert Season from May to October of 2021. This series of ten outdoor, socially distanced, curated concerts will host both big-name talent—including the Gibson Brothers, Andy Statman, and Tony Trischka—and local groups who are the backbone of our region’s bluegrass community. We see this series not only as making up for a nearly bluegrass-less year, but also as a precursor to the full concert season we intend to have in the fall at our usual location, the Unitarian Fellowship in Poughkeepsie.
We will be making every precaution to ensure that these concerts are safe for performers and attendees, including requiring tickets to be purchased online in advance of all shows. Masks will be required at all times, and groups will be socially distanced at our venue. Maximum attendance is one hundred, so be sure to grab tickets when they go on sale in April.
We missed having live bluegrass music as much as you have for the past twelve months. The HVBA is ecstatic to be able to continue to fulfill its mission of providing a home for local and regional bluegrass acts. We can’t wait to see you for our Summer Concert Season!
Oh Lynn, what would we do without you!! Thank you, Steve, and Jodi for hosting these wonderful events.
