A press release just came out Oct 18 revealing that a MAJOR rock star (for decades!) has recorded a country music project. Some of the younger bright lights of bluegrass joined in on this project; namely, Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle and Alison Krauss! The producer is T-Bone Burnett. Maybe this will be the next “big thing” for bluegrass, like O Brother Where Art Thou 24 years ago?

The correct answer is Ringo Starr! Perhaps his fans remember when he recorded (and had a hit with) “All I Gotta Do is Act Naturally”, which was also a hit for Buck Owens.
The press release a couple of weeks ago revealed that Ringo has a country album “in the can” and he had brought in Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle and Alison Krauss, among others, to pick and sing and add country cred.
This ought to be good!
The suggested answer of Robert Plante (Led Zeppelin, I think), is “close”. Robert has toured and recorded with Alison Krauss for many years now. But he hasn’t drawn in the new hotshot bluegrass youngsters Billy and Molly. Not yet anyway. And the music Robert and Alison do is not quite “country”.
