February Concert: The Korey Brodsky Band

When: Sunday, February 26 @ 4pm
Where: Unitarian Fellowship: 67 S. Randolph Avenue – Poughkeepsie, NY
Tickets: At The Door: $15/Adults – $5/Students

The Korey Brodsky Band (an HVBA Member Band), based in Newtown Connecticut, features 2013 International Bluegrass Music Association Youth All-Star and perennial contest winner Korey Brodsky on both guitar and mandolin, and Berklee-Grey Fox summer program scholarship award recipient Sofia Chiarandini on fiddle and lead vocal. The band is rounded out with extraordinary multi-instrumentalist Dick Neal and veteran upright bass player Rick Brodsky. Performing contemporary and traditional bluegrass, as well as originals by Korey and Dick, The Korey Brodsky Band has played many popular local bluegrass venues and festivals in CT & NY.

The first IBMA youth all-stars performance was organized by Pete Wernick in 1993 and included Chris Thile, Michael Cleveland, Josh Williams, and Cody Kilby. They were cute, and great for their age, but that’s not why we know their names now. We know them because they make music that moves us. And, certainly, Brodsky is in that class of player.
