It’s all about that vocal, ’bout that vocal….which are high priority in this band! You will hear some of the best harmony in bluegrass today! Obscure, original, and classic bluegrass and country songs are done with heartfelt conviction and sometimes…even tears!! If you like straight ahead “high powered” bluegrass…and deep country, then you’re not gonna wanna miss this show!
That’s right…you’re not gonna wanna!
The Cornfed Dogs have the best song catalogue anywhere, and will render music of the Stanley Brothers, Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, Flatt ‘n Scruggs, and many more of the bluegrass pioneers, their offspring, spin-offs, 3rd time-outers, and the wanna-be’s. Just as close to your records…as we’re able! Oh, you’re in for it!
Here’s the band!
Nick Novz-Guitar
Joe DeLillo-Bass
Terry McGill-Banjo
Chris Brashear-Fiddle
Yea…like a duo, but with the BEST players! Nick, Joe…are in concert…bluegrass is all about the singing…Nick, Joe, and the other “Dogs” are all about the bluegrass! They’ll render the highest ‘n hard, holy, lonesom’est…harmony singing you’re gonna hear nowhere!!
(Notice how I stayed away from the overused word, “powerful!”)
We always get a kick outa’ hearing what Ben Fraker-Mandolin, will do next!
He’s right outa’ the shadow…of our “Father of bluegrass music,” Ben is one of most talented musicians you will ever hear in the bluegrass style! He is redefining bluegrass mandolin. He keeps the power “ON,” every break is an adventure…don’t miss this him!
It is out pleasure to play alongside Terry McGill-Banjo.
Terry hails from Hasbrouck Heights, NJ…and has a long history, and future in bluegrass, both as a performer and radio host. He also has an instructional manual, “Alternate Tunings for Five-string Banjo”, available from Mel Bay Publications. Terry’s music is steeped in tradition while remaining fresh at the same time. Terry’s hard-driving banjo picking on both traditional and original instrumentals and behind some great vocals with the Cornfed Dogs will be powerful stuff!
We are excited to have Chris Brashear adding his talents to the CFD’s!
Chris Brashear-Fiddle, is a dynamic instrumentalist, a charismatic singer with a high, clear voice, and a songwriter who portrays contemporary life with old-time flavor. Chris currently performs with the bluegrass band Perfect Strangers, as a member of Robin and Linda Williams and Their Fine Group, and as a duo with Peter McLaughlin. Chris and Peter have recently released their second recording entitled So Long Arizona. The CD features new songs written by Chris and Peter, and guests include Todd Phillips, Tom Rozum, Jim Watson, Neil Harry, Jody Stecher and Kate Brislin.
Together, the Cornfed Dogs are fun! Join us!
