Audie Blaylock & Redline Concert

Saturday night the HVBA hosted a great concert by Audie Blaylock and Redline at Christ Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie.
Audie spent 9 years on the road with Jimmy Martin as a Sunny Mountain Boy and one could clearly hear the Martin influence in Audie’s rhythm guitar playing, great harmony vocal singing, and the way the banjo rolled continuously through his music. His voice soared on the Bill Monroe classic “Cry, Cry, Darlin,” and he channeled Jimmy Martin in style and energy singing “Sunny Side Of The Mountain” as an encore.

Audie was backed by a stellar band of musicians, Jesse Brock, IBMA Mandolin Player Of The Year; Russ Carson, on a driving five string banjo; Patrick McAvinue, outstanding on fiddle; and Jason Moore, keeping perfect time on the upright bass.

While many in the audience had never heard or seen Audie Blaylock and Redline before, no one in attendance will likely soon forget this concert.
