Singer/fiddler/composer Sara Milonovich has been performing for many years throughout the US and Europe as a solo artist, a bandleader, and in various collaborations in various roots, Americana, folk-rock, bluegrass, Celtic, and Appalachian music scenes. As a side person, she has performed or recorded with artists such as Pete Seeger, Richard Shindell, Cathie Ryan, Eliza Gilkyson, The McKrells, Quickstep, Anne Hills, and Leslie Ritter & Scott Petito, among others.
Growing up on a working farm in rural upstate New York, she began playing the fiddle when she was 4 years old, and was leading her own bands by the age of 7. Learning from and continuing the tradition of the Adirondack fiddlers, she won several bluegrass and old-time fiddle and song contests throughout her teen years, while at the same time performing with various classical ensembles in New York, including the Empire State Youth and Repertory Orchestras and several string quartets. She released her first solo CD under the name Sara Miles (as her last name was often mispronounced), which was a Grammy-nominated semifinalist, and at 16 began her touring career.
